DESCRIPTION:How do opportunities arise, and how are educational pathways, professional development and academic careers influenced by social structures? Prof. Dr Jutta Allmendinger, one of Germany’s most renowned sociologists, is visiting the Hamburg Centre for Health Economics (HCHE).\n
Her research focuses on social inequality, education, the labour market and gender equality, particularly the conditions under which individual life and career paths develop.\n
This event is part of the DFG’s equal opportunities measures and stems from an initiative by the female PhD students of the Research Training Group. Prof. Allmendinger will give a keynote talk on the topic ‘Women in Academia: Challenging Inequality, Shaping Careers and Making Room for Life: A Conversation'. However, the focus will be on the subsequent open discussion with PhD students about equal opportunities, academic career paths, and the challenges within the academic system.\n
The event will be held in English. Places are limited. Anyone outside the Research Training Group who is interested should contact Andrea Bükow in advance.\n
