Evaluation of telemedical services for patients with COPD
Cost-effectiveness Analysis of Telemedicinal Care of Patients with COPD
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the most common and most expensive chronic diseases of the rich countries. A new approach to treatment and medical support of COPD patients is based on telemedical technologies: Vital signs of the COPD patient are transmitted (semi-)automatically to medical personnel. The intention is to achieve an increase of quality of life of the COPD patients, along with cost reduction.
Prof. Dr. Tom Stargardt and Prof. Dr. Jonas Schreyögg are responsible for the health economic evaluation of the joint project of AOK Bavaria and SHL Telemedicine. They examine to what extent the program leads to an improvement of medicinal outcomes and change of costs.
