The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) has approved the proposal for the project “Alcohol consumption among teenagers: policy measures, traffic accidents and mortality” of HCHE-coremembers Prof. Thomas Siedler and Prof. Jan Marcus. The main research question of the project is, to what extent a legal minimum age for alcohol consumption affects the short-term mortality rate of young people. In addition, the effects of late-night sales bans on alcohol and traffic accidents caused by alcohol consumption will be investigated. The project is based on large official data sets from Germany and will run for two years.
