Back to her former workplace: Prof. Dr. Carolin Brinkmann is taking up her junior professorship in “Business Administration, with a focus on Healthcare Management” at the University of Hamburg Business School and is joining the HCHE Executive Board as a core member!

Carolin Brinkmann is continuing her academic career at the Hamburg Center for Health Economics. Previously, she earned her Ph.D. with summa cum laude honors (thesis topic: “Essays on Health Economic Evaluation, Well-being, and Willingness to Pay Measurement”), received an HCHE Young Researcher Award in 2025, and completed a research stay at Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands. At the HCHE, she was also an associate member of the DFG-funded Research Training Group “Managerial and Economic Dimensions of Health Care Quality.” Prior to that, she conducted research at the Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Knowledge Economy in Leipzig.

Through her research, Carolin Brinkmann aims to generate evidence-based foundations for decision-makers that can improve public health and patient care. With a broad interest in the management of innovations in the healthcare sector – specifically new health technologies and care models – she focuses her methodological work on quantitative and empirical approaches. Other projects include the collaborative project “Evaluation of Genome Sequencing for Rare and Oncological Diseases (EGSOE),” in which she models genomic medicine care within the statutory health insurance system from a health economics perspective.
