The German Council of Experts in Health Care (Sachverständigenrat zur Begutachtung der Entwicklung im Gesundheitswesen), to which Prof. Dr. Jonas Schreyögg (scientific director at the HCHE) belongs, handed over their report to Lutz Stroppe, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Health in Berlin. The report "Demand-oriented management of health care" points out proposals for better demand estimation and cross-sector planning/control of ambulatory, hospital and combined care. The control proposals for emergency care, back pain and mental illness are explained as examples. The proposals are the result of extensive analyses of current outpatient and inpatient services in Germany and other industrialised countries. The council will present its proposals at a symposium in Berlin on 26 September and at four regional conferences in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Halle and Düsseldorf.
