
New DFG project examines Corona reporting

As part of a new research project funded by the DFG, Prof. Dr. Esra Eren Bayindir and Prof. Dr. Jonas Schreyögg (both HCHE) together with Prof. Dr. Robert Fuchs from the Institute for English and American Studies at the Universität Hamburg will be examine the influence of public discourse on the use of health care in Germany and England during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using a big data approach, researchers will analyze and evaluate newspaper and social media data from both countries while also taking into account other data sets, including the European COvid Survey (ECOS). This study aims to determine the relationship between public discourse, population reactions, socio-economic factors, and political orientation. The project starts in June and runs for two years.
