The Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) today announced that the Innovation Committee has recommended two projects for regular supply. One of these is INVEST (Integrated Comprehensive Health Care in Deprived Metropolitan Regions), which aims to improve health care in socially disadvantaged neighbourhoods. It started in 2017 with the establishment of a regional, integrated health network in the Hamburg districts of Billstedt and Horn to strengthen prevention, health promotion and preservation. A unique focus in Germany was the health kiosk, a low-threshold and supportive district institution that advises and trains local people in their native language on health and care issues. The HCHE was an evaluation partner from the outset and was able to report that better networking of medical and social care as well as low-threshold services improved the health care of people in Hamburg’s Billstedt and Horn districts.
