Kristina Hagenström receives German Acne Tarda AwardHCHE member honored for epidemiological secondary data analysis on the prevalence and disease burden of acne tarda

Dr Kristina Hagenström (UKE / HCHE) received the German Acne Tarda Award for an epidemiological secondary data analysis on the prevalence and disease burden of acne tarda.

The study used nationwide health insurance data to investigate the epidemiology, care situation and disease burden of people with acne juvenilis (under 25 years) and acne tarda (over 25 years) in Germany. Discrepancies in treatment patterns were identified, which illustrate that acne treatment often deviates from medical guidelines and is medically and economically disadvantageous. The study data underline the need for future care strategies that improve both the quality of life of those affected and the use of resources.
