Members of the Hamburg Center for Health Economics published over 200 papers in around 60 journals in 2024. The topics range from the financing of the healthcare system, incentives for hospitals and phiysicians, market mechanisms for pharmaceuticals, risk taking in social settings or health risk perception during the coronavirus pandemic to topics such as care, ageism/loneliness, migration, pregnancy, dermatology or oncology.
The renowned Journal of Health Economics published: "A new look at physicians’ responses to financial incentives: Quality of care, practice characteristics, and motivations", co-authored by Prof Johanna Kokot. BMC Geriatrics (seven publications), Social Psychiatry and Psychiatric Epidemiology (six publications) and BMC Public Health (five publications) were characterised by a high publication density. In addition, "Loneliness and Isolation in Old Age – Correlations and Implications" by Prof André Hajek and Prof Hans-Helmut König is a comprehensive edited volume on the topic of old age and loneliness.
