HCHE visits EuHEA at Erasmus University Rotterdam

From Hamburg to Rotterdam: “Bridging health economics excellence in research & practice” – this year’s title of the EuHEA Conference 2026 seems to fit perfectly with the close connection between the two health economic hubs EsCHER (Erasmus Centre for Health Economics Rotterdam) and HCHE (Hamburg Center for Health Economics). Round about 30 researchers from the Hamburg Center for Health Economics (including members of three faculties of the Universität Hamburg and the Universitätsklinikum Hamburg Eppendorf) attended the annual conference which was held in 2026 at Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam. Alongside lively discussions and advancing research there were plenty of opportunities for networking, strengthening and fostering collaborations and reconnecting with old contacts, and forging new ones. 

As usual, the range of topics was very broad, as was the scope of the presentations from Hamburg: the talks by HCHE members covered everything from competition among hospitals and the quality of care to the effects of integrated healthcare using machine learning, and the impact of ambient temperatures on sick leave in Germany. In total, more than 30 studies were presented and discussed by HCHE members.
