On 22nd August the first meeting of a new honorary commission took place, proposed by Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn. HCHE director Jonas Schreyögg is also part of the commission, working on a new system for the remuneration of doctors.
The coalition agreement between the Union parties and SPD stated amendments for health insurances. The parties plan to tailor the outpatient fee structure of statutory health insurances as well as the scale of fees of the private health insurance. This scientific commission, acting on a proposal by Jens Spahn, works to develop a modern remuneration system (in German: KOMV) and was approved by the federal cabinet in June.
The commission consists of 13 independent scientists from all over Germany with different expertises like health economics, medicine and law. Besides Prof. Schreyögg, the legal expert and HCHE-affiliate Prof. Dagmar Felix belongs to the commission.
Health Minister Jens Spahn aims for a remuneration of doctors, gearing towards both the needs of the population and medical progress. The commission is supposed to submit a report with recommendations by the end of 2019.
