During a festive ceremony on February 27th, Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn presented the certificates of appointment to the new and renamed members of new advisory council on the assessment of developments in the health care system, including HCHE scientific Director Professor Jonas Schreyögg.
Afterwards, the members met for the constitutive meeting and used this to elect the first chairman (general practitioner Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Gerlach, University of Frankfurt) and deputy chairman (Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Greiner, University of Bielefeld).
In addition to Professor Schreyögg and the two chairmen, the board also includes the economist Prof. Dr. Beate Jochimsen (Berlin School of Economics and Law), the oncologist Prof. Dr. Christof von Kalle (German Cancer Research Centre Heidelberg), the nursing scientist Prof. Dr. Gabriele Meyer (University of Halle) and the pharmacologist Prof. Dr. Petra Thürmann (University of Witten-Herdecke).
The new advisory council on the assessment of developments in the health care system is appointed from 1 February 2019 to 31 January 2023. Its task is to analyse health developments in Germany and to support government work with proposals for reducing overuse, underuse and misuse.
