With the introduction of the “pauschalierenden Entgeltsystems Psychiatrie und Psychosomatik"” (PEPP) (flat-rate psychiatry and psychosomatic remuneration system) from 2013, there was a change in inpatient care to a remuneration system geared more towards the resource intensity of the patients. The accompanying research required by law on the effects of the new flat-rate remuneration system, carried out by HCHE and the BQS Institute for Quality & Patient Safety, is divided into three periods: The results of the 2nd research cycle (data years 2016 - 2018) represent an extension of the baseline measurement and of the first research cycle. In addition, updated survey results from hospitals and health insurance companies as well as the MDK are analyzed and discussed.
